While her medical school journey began at the University of British Columbia, it was Dr. Smith-Forrester’s elective experience with the Dalhousie Department of Neurosurgery that left a mark on her heart. The camaraderie, support, and sense of belonging she found within the halls of Dal Med drew her back, reaffirming her commitment to a specialty that felt like "home."

As a senior Neurosurgery resident, Dr. Smith-Forrester has a keen interest in neurosurgical robotics and health system’s quality improvement, and is driven to push the boundaries of innovation. In that, she embodies the spirit of excellence that defines her field—just one of the reasons she was the successful bursary candidate.
